About Mumblit

When people get bored on social networks they tend to use them in ways not necessarily intended by the makers. An example of this is the use of Twitter's "Trending Topics" as a form of word games. Some of them are certainly more entertaining than others, however, sites like Twitter or Facebook never intended for people to use those functions for games and that is why we've built Mumblit. Mumblit is an interface designed specifically for playing word and picture feed games! Similar to Twitter's Trending Topics, you can make a Mumble and instantly see a live feed of responses to that Mumble. Have people finish your sentences, start them, or simply respond to your question! Tired of word games? Why not make a picture Mumble and you'll get pictures as responses! All we ask is that you have fun doing it! Just remember, you'll need a Twitter account to create your own Mumbles!

How It Works

Mumblit is very easy to use and composed of just two screens. The first screen or landing page displays the most recent Mumbles. The second screen is viewed when the user clicks on the Mumble of his or her choice. To respond to a Mumble, simply click on the Mumble you'd like to respond to and then click on the "Post Comment" bar and enter your response. Logging in is not necessary to respond to a Mumble but is encouraged! If you log into Mumblit with your Twitter account, your new Mumbles will automatically be posted to our Twitter page. As for any comments posted, you can opt-in or out of having them posted to your Twitter account.
If you prefer one type of Mumble to another, you can view Mumbles by one of our 4 categories. Each category is represented by a color. "All" displays all 4 categories. Clicking on the "Starters" (in green) category will display Mumbles that start a phrase, sentence, poem, etc, and would like you to finish it. Likewise, clicking on the "Finishers" (in orange) category will display Mumbles that would like you to start the Mumble. The category "Q&A" (in red) is self-explanitory. It wants comments that respond to a question! Last on the category list is "Pictures" (in blue). These Mumbles expect an image as a comment response. Mumblit does not however limit posting pictures to picture categorized Mumbles. Additionally, when viewing the comments area, if you would like to see an enlarged version of the posted image, simply click on that images thumbnail, and a larger version will be displayed for you!

Twitter Login

Here at Mumblit, we hate having to make accounts! How many times do we have to give websites our information! Too many if you ask us! That's why we've used Twitter login to allow our users to login with their Twitter account. To login simply click on the "Login" button and you will be prompted to login with your Twitter account. To allow us to connect you, you'll have to give permission to Twitter for us to use your information. As previously stated, login is only required to create new Mumbles and not comment, however we'd prefer if you logged in first as this allows us to build your history page which can help you keep track of your previous posts.
If you do not have a Twitter account please click on the "Create one here!" link provided when prompted for your Twitter information. Once your Twitter account has been created you'll be able to login using that information!

Creating New Mumbles

Once you have logged in using your Twitter account you're ready to start Mumblin'. To create a new Mumble, simple click on the Mumble button at the top center of the screen (pictured right) and you will be prompted to enter your Mumble. We've split the Mumbles into 4 categories for easy searching. Simple Mumbles such as sentence completion or question/answer Mumbles (the most common type as seen on Twitter) should be "Starter" Mumbles. Examples are given in the prompt to give you an idea of which category to put your Mumble. Once you have clicked the "Add" button, your Mumble will appear at the top of the screen. To see responses to your Mumble, simply click on the Mumble itself and a live feed of comments to your Mumble will be displayed.

Commenting

Commenting on Mumblit is perhaps even easier than making a new Mumble. Simply click on the Mumble you wish to participate in and once displaying that Mumbles page, click on the orange colored bar that reads "Post Comment". A comment area will then appear. Although we encourage our users to use their Twitter accounts when participating, it is not necessary to be logged in to join the fun! Upon posting your comment, feel free to add a picture or image to your post. Also, when commenting under your Twitter account, keep in mind that your comments will be posted to your Twitter account. If you would prefer your comments not to be posted to your Twitter account, please uncheck the box located under the text field labeled, "Submit To Twitter?". When commenting on a Mumblit, please do not forget that our users are from all over the world, are of different ages, ethnicities, religous backgrounds, and are real people with real feelings. We would appreciate it if you could keep your comments fun and positive and avoid confrontation, offensive or bad language. Abusers of the system, once identified, will be blacklisted from our servers. If you are looking for comments made by a user, but they don't seem to be being displayed, please check that users history by clicking on their user name. Clicking on user names will display that users activity on Mumblit including any mumbles created, comments made, or pictures posted. Thanks for using Mumblit and taking the time to read about our services and how the site works. Still have questions or comments? Feel free to contact us using the contact mail at the bottom of the screen.
