SATANIC PRIEST or LUKEWARM CHRISTIAN? Interesting that both of these are disturbing to God. What might be even more interesting is which one God would rather you be. Our logic may be to say, well certainly, a lukewarm church attending Christian is much better than a someone openly serving the devil, right?
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other. So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth."
The Satanic person , well he knows who he is serving, what he's all about. Maybe the same can be said of the deliberate drunkard, adulterer, crack dealer, pimp, or wife beater, ...they know who they're serving and make no bones about it. All about themselves, come what may. Perhaps they are cold towards God and know it. It's clear to them and everyone else too. So,it seems to me that, because it's clear who and what they are, God is more OK with this, because they don't represent Him.
The lukewarm Christian is different.Claims to be a Christ follower. And, at one time, probably was. But now it's different. He thinks he's still fine, but that's a HUGE part of the problem. No longer earnestly seeks or pursues God. Rationalizes a lot.May have ample secrets he or she somehow justifies. Heart and conscience is kind of calloused. Serving God with zeal gets in the way of what is really important to him or her.Self deceived, self righteous, complacent, and living a life that inspires no one and turns off many sincerely seeking God. And Jesus says I will spit you out of my mouth. Why? You're lax attitude towards Jesus and the things of God is disgusting, makes God want to vomit. He says he would RATHER YOU BE COLD towards Him than lukewarm. BE an adulterer. Drunk.Child molester. Crackhead. Go ahead and be cold, because a lukewarm Christian is serving no kingdom purpose. You are fooling yourself, maybe fooling others, but not AT ALL fooling God. You're religious, at least a bit, bit far from God. You have a form of godliness, and you deny it's power.
"I wish you were either one or the other."
Well, at least there's a choice. And here, if you are a lukewarm Christian, is God's plea:
"Those I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent ! Here I am! " ( Revelation 3.19)
Listen, ALL of us are broken. Stop pretending you aren't. Own your condition, because THEN it can change. And you'll be REFRESHED!
Turn around. Get serious. Stop playing. Let Godly people in your life to help you. Be open about where you're really at, and humble enough to be willing to see the crap in your heart holding you back. But don't stay where you are. Making the Lord talk about vomiting is nothing to be proud of. It is, however, something to be taken seriously.
