AZ legislature basses resolution defying Democrats’ elections overhaul bill
The Arizona State Senate approved passed a resolution on Tuesday to defy HR 1, the controversial Democrat-led bill for voter reform which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has been desperately pushing for weeks.
The House passed the bill Mar. 3 along party lines. HR 1 remains under consideration in the 50-50 deadlocked Senate.
The resolution declared:
Therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:
1. That the Members of the Legislature oppose any attempt by the federal government to usurp, or otherwise interfere with, the state legislative sovereign authority over the management, control and administration of elections.
2. That the Members of the Legislature oppose H.R. 1 and any subsequent enactment of the terms of this proposal and implore the Members of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate to oppose the same.
The resolution, named the House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 2023, was approved along party lines 16 to 14 in the state’s House of Representatives.
“The ‘Corrupt Politicians Act’ is the most dangerous piece of legislation to come out of DC in generations,” State Rep. Jake Hoffman (R-Queen Creek), told Breitbart News.
“The bill reflects Democrats’ attempt to rig America’s electoral system in their favor and strip voters of their civil right to have their vote matter,” he added.
The act highlights the HR 1 battle in Washington has far-reaching implications among the states. Georgia’s recent voter reform bill has likewise generated much controversy, even leading to Major League Baseball moving the All-Star Game from the state.
