The German brand is preparing new electric cars, including the iX3, iNext and i4. The presentation of all three electric vehicles will take place before the end of 2021, but in the future a larger number of electric models may come out.

Currently, there is little information about the plans of the automaker for the period after 2022, however, a fresh report from the brand provides for the appearance in the Bavarian brand line of an all-electric i6 model that will compete with the Audi e-tron GT, Mercedes EQS and Porsche Taycan.

Autoblog agency notes that the i6 will appear in 2024 and will become a stylish electric car that will inherit part of the design decisions from the 8-Series Gran Coupe. Therefore, the i6 will be a 4-door coupe, which is reasonable given the competition of the upcoming new model.

According to press reports, the standard i6 will receive two electric power units. The motor, which will be located on the front axle, will develop approximately 200 hp, and on the rear - approximately 335 hp So, the total performance of the new product will be 535 hp, and it will also receive four-wheel drive.

In addition, the output of the M Performance variation is allowed, which will also have 2 electric motors with a return of 335 hp each.

Speaking of batteries, the BMW i6 will offer two battery options. As follows from the report, a standard battery with a capacity of 90 kW / h will provide a range of 560 km in the WLTP cycle, and a more efficient battery at 120 kW / h - 700 km.

BMW may also release an electric motorcycle in five years

In recent years, electrification has reached not only cars, but the electric motorcycle segment has also begun to develop rapidly. BMW is also included in this race.

Fully electric motorcycles are becoming more common. However, BMW Motorrad seems in no hurry to bring its own electric bikes to the market. BMW Motorrad CEO Dr. Marcus Schramm said electric bikes can make sense in urban environments, but careful work on the new model is required.

“As the Vision DC Roadster concept shows, we are considering the possibility of producing an electric bike,” he said. “It is possible that in five years there will be an electric BMW motorcycle. Nevertheless, we are not yet ready to offer a solution in the segments of tours, SUVs and sports. ”

The BMW Vision DC Roadster was introduced at #NEXTGen in June 2019. power transmission through the rear wheel is a cylindrical electric motor. The design of the motorcycle is different from the rest of the company's line, and it is known that the serial version of this concept will never appear.

“I am convinced that a motorcycle as a product is becoming more and more important - not for travel to work, but for relaxation,” added Schramm.
