The American soldiers who were killed on Friday when their plane crashed over the Mediterranean Sea were training in Cyprus to evacuate civilians from Lebanon.

The aircraft that crashed in the Mediterranean Sea was a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter belonging to 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne)
