A false teacher will cherry pick holy scripture because knowingly or not their sole mission is to keep you from knowing the truth. My ex-Jehovah’s witness friends have no interest in religion, why because they were subjected to a religious system that must of felt spiritually overwhelming and now that their out they rather not go through all that again. Mormonism will say that they believe that the Bible is the sole source of their teachings until you start learning that they teach polytheism (beliefs in many gods) God commands us to love him with all our mind which means that we’re not belief anything without confirming it with holy scripture.
